Yoga in the School day

As more and more children suffer from anxiety and health problems Yoga is an innovative and effective way to improve health in the mind and body - and it's also FUN with me too!! 

Pupils flourish in a positive and fun environment.  During my yoga based sessions children are encouraged to do their best; I cultivate a non-competitive environment and promote growth mindset values and teach awareness and skills for everyday living - in a fun way so children engage and have the opportunity to experience, feel and share.

Self-esteem naturally raises levels of achievement and improves standards for schools.

I have delivered various sessions in schools both during school time and as part of a after-school activity program. Curriculum subjects can be intertwined into the sessions (for eg healthy lifestyles/eating, cultural festivals,  etc), at school events to offer additional creative physical opportunities.  It is engaging, fun and creative offering something for every child, and linking in with school outcomes.  Relaxation and calm time is crucial in these sessions which I have found children often crave. 


The importance of Yoga for Children:   FUN come FIRST - because children engage and learn!

Concentration – children can transfer their concentration skills to other areas of the curriculum, and their life

Physical fitness – increased flexibility, muscles tone and strength, better posture and balancing 

Relaxation & Calming - Children learn techniques to help them stay in control, and also through exercises and activities can share and understand their behavoiur. This is often a major benefit as many children may never get the opportunity to learn how to relax fully.

Well-being & self esteem – children enjoying a great sense of achievement from the posture work because we make the activities achievable and fun. In addition children feel good about themselves and their bodies because of the exercise.

Social Skills - Children improve their social skills because of the style of this class, through yoga games and partner and group work -Teamwork, listening, cooperation and other social areas.

Everyone is included - They are included and valued regardless of size, intellectual ability or culture.

The collection of these aspects works to increase overall health, well-being & self esteem
